Alla A. Boshchenko, M.D., Ph. D., Dr. Sci. (Med.), Deputy Director for Research of Cardiology Research Institute

In 1994, Alla A. Boshchenko graduated with honors from the Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) in Tomsk. She graduated from the clinical residency in 1995 and clinical Ph. D. course with a specialization in Internal Medicine at the Department of Intermediate Level Therapy with the Course of Cardiology at SSMU. In 2001–2003, she worked as a Cardiologist in the Department of Atherosclerosis and Chronic Coronary Artery Disease of Cardiology Research Institute (Tomsk Research Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences at that time). From 2003 to 2016, she was working as an ultrasonic medical investigation specialist in the Department of Atherosclerosis and Chronic Coronary Artery Disease. In 2005–2015, she held a position of Research Fellow and, since 2015, a Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Atherosclerosis and Chronic Coronary Artery Disease. In 2016 was appointed as a Deputy Director for Research of the Cardiology Research Institute.

In 2000, she defended her dissertation for a degree of Cand. Sci. (Med.) titled «Efficacy of propranolol, metoprolol, and amlodipine in patients with stable angina in combination with arterial hypertension and normal blood pressure». In 2014, she defended her dissertation for a degree of Dr. Sci. (Med.) titled «Integrative noninvasive assessment of coronary blood flow and coronary reserve in patients with coronary artery disease».

Since 2016, Alla A. Boshchenko has been a Member of the Senatus Academicus of Cardiology Research Institute as well as the Senatus Academicus of Tomsk NRMC.

Main scientific competencies comprise ultrasonic and functional diagnostics, physiology and pathophysiology of cardiovascular system, atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, coronary blood flow, coronary reserve, myocardial perfusion and microcirculation, and myocardial ischemia.

Main clinical competencies comprise clinical cardiology, echocardiography, electrocardiography, stress tests in cardiology, transesophageal echocardiography, stress-echocardiography, ultrasound studies of the blood vessels and internal organs, and 24-h monitoring of arterial blood pressure.

Alla A. Boshchenko is well known in Russia specialist in the field of ultrasound and functional diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. Alla A. Boshchenko with co-authors developed the priority areas focusing on the assessment of the role of ascending aorta in the pathogenesis of coronary insufficiency in patients with angina as well as on the transthoracic and transesophageal Doppler visualization in quantitative assessment of myocardial ischemia in stress echocardiography. She is an author of 170 scientific works including two books, chapter in international book, two chapters in Russian books, and manual for medical doctors.

In 2000, Alla A. Boshchenko was recognized as the best young cardiologist in Russia (2nd National Congress «Human and Medicine»). She was awarded Honorary Diploma of the Public Health Department of the Tomsk Region Administration (2005), Honorary Diploma of the Tomsk Region Administration (2015). Alla A. Boshchenko is a Laureate of the Tomsk Region in the field of Education, Science, Healthcare, and Culture (2009).
