Doctor of Medical Sciences

Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine

H-index: RSCI 12, Scopus 2, Web of Science 2

Working experience

Dr. Krivonogov was working as an Anesthesiologist-Reanimatologist of the Diagnostic Radiology Department starting in 1982 and later as a Radiologist (since 1983) and a Head of the Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine of Cardiology Research Institute. Since 2005, he has been a Senior Research Scientist in Cardiology Research Institute.

Education and advanced professional training

Nikolay G. Krivonogov graduated from the Tomsk Medical Institute with Major in General Medicine with qualification of a Doctor of Medicine. In 1980, he became a medical resident at the Cardiology Research Institute n.a. A. L. Myasnikov (Moscow). In 1989, he defended a doctoral thesis titled «Myocardial scintigraphy in detection of transient ischemia» for an academic degree of a Candidate of Medical Sciences awarded by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles in 1990. The research supervisors were R. S. Karpov, Dr. Sci. (Med.), Full Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences; A. Z. Eventov, Dr. Sci. (Med.); Yu. B. Lishmanov, Dr. Sci. (Med.). The thesis defense took place in the Dissertation Council of Cardiology Research Institute. Later, in 2002, Dr. Krivonogov defended another doctoral thesis titled «Radionuclide methods of functional diagnostics for abnormal pulmonary hemodynamics in patients with circulatory insufficiency: Clinical and experimental study» for an academic degree of a Doctor of Medical Sciences awarded by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles in 2002. The research consultants were Professor Yu. B. Lishmanov, Dr. Sci. (Med.) and Professor v. A. Dudko, Dr. Sci. (Med.).

Research interests

Dr. Krivonogov’s research is focusing on the experimental studies of radiopharmaceuticals based on Thallium-199m-chloride, Iodine-123m, and Technetium-99m and their use in nuclear medicine. Dr. Krivonogov developed fundamentally new heart and chest phantoms for objective assessment of diffuse accumulation of a radiopharmaceutical in the myocardium. This classification became widely used in radionuclide diagnostics. RSCI h-index = 11, Web of Science h-index = 2, Scopus h-index = 2.

Research

Dr. Krivonogov has been developing the methodology for clinical and experimental radionuclide studies of cardiovascular system. The studies resulted in the implementation into practical healthcare of several new radiopharmaceuticals for the assessment of perfusion and function of vital organs. Among these radiopharmaceuticals, one should mention the agents based on short-lived nuclides such as Thallium-199m, Iodine-123m, and Technetium-99m. The use of these radiopharmaceuticals allowed to develop research area in Nuclear Medicine focusing on scintigraphic follow-up evaluation of the efficacy of pharmacological and surgical treatments for cardiovascular and cerebral diseases.

Teaching

Dr. Krivonogov has been working as a Professor at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Radiotherapy at Siberian State Medical University since April, 2003 (part time). In 1995, he has been recognized a Radiologist of the highest category. He is giving lectures on radionuclide diagnostics for the students and trainees of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Occupational Retraining at the Siberian State Medical University.

Grants

Dr. Krivonogov is currently an investigator for the project titled «preclinical studies of the radiopharmaceutical based on Thallium-199m for the diagnostics of abnormal cerebral circulation» supported by Federal Targeted Program grant #ГК_N 14.N08.11.1031.

Membership in societies, councils, and commissions

Member of the Russian Interregional Society of Nuclear Medicine (1986).

Main publications, patents, and certificates

Author of over 170 published works including practical guideline of the Ministry of Healthcare of the USSR. Co-author of a teaching medium «Diagnostic Radiology», part 1 (2009) under the editorship of v. D. Zavadovskaya. Author of 17 patents of invention.

Awards

Dr. Krivonogov has been awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Healthcare of the USSR (1990), Certificate of Appreciation from the Healthcare Department of Tomsk Region Administration (2002), and a Merit Button Badge «Excellent Worker of Public Health» (2000).
