Working experience

Dr. Vrublevsky has been working in a position of a Research Scientist since 1993 and a Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Atherosclerosis and Coronary Artery Disease in Cardiology Research Institute since 1999. He also has been working as a physician specialized in ultrasound diagnostics in Cardiology Research Institute for 11 years and in Outpatient Clinic No. 8 for 25 years.

Education and advanced professional training

Alexander v. Vrublevsky graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine of Tomsk Medical Institute in 1988. He completed the medical residency program with specialization in Cardiology in 1990. After completion of the clinical postgraduate training in 1993, he defended his dissertation thesis titled «Clinical evaluation of coronary hemodynamic reserve in patients with coronary artery disease» for a degree of candidate of medical sciences. In 2006, Alexander v. Vrublevsky defended a dissertation thesis titled «Integrated ultrasound evaluation of coronary blood flow, coronary reserve, latent myocardial ischemia, and morpho-functional abnormalities of thoracic aorta in patients with coronary artery disease» for a degree of doctor of medical sciences.

Research

Dr. Vrublevsky is an expert in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography and ultrasonic examination of the soft tissues, blood vessels, thyroid, internal organs, and pleural cavities. The area of personal competencies of Dr. Vrublevsky includes complex ultrasound examinations of the heart and blood vessels, in particular, three-dimensional transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, contrast-enhanced echocardiography, stress echocardiography, and studies of biomechanics of the heart and thoracic aorta.

Teaching

Dr. Alexander v. Vrublevsky combines clinical and scientific activities with teaching. Since 2014, he has been a Head of Education Office, coordinating training of medical residents and postgraduate students and delivering advanced training courses for cardiologists and physicians specializing in ultrasound and functional diagnostics.

Dr. Vrublevsky is a member of the Russian Society of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology (ESC), Russian Association of Specialists in Ultrasound Diagnostics in Medicine, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), and International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (ISCU).

Awards

Alexander v. Vrublevsky has been awarded the Certificates of Merit for his achievements in the field of instrumental and clinical studies by the Mayor’s office of Tomsk (2005), Tomsk Region Administration (2007), and Cardiology Research Institute Administration (2010). He was awarded the commemorative medal «70th Anniversary of Tomsk Region» (2014).
