The department represents a clinical base for scientific subdivision of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery.
Characteristics of the department: the department has 25 cardiac surgery beds, resuscitation unit, and intensive care unit for six beds.
Areas of clinical activities:
Delivery of highly qualified cardiac surgery care for patient of any age with congenital cardiovascular diseases and surgical treatment of acquired heart diseases in children. Specialized examination including 3D-modeling and 3D printing of intracardiac anatomical structures. Conservative treatment in pathology of cardiovascular system in children. Delivery of consulting assistance to the institutions of the Tomsk region and other territories of the Russian Federation concerning diagnostics and treatment of heart diseases in children. The development and implementation of new treatment methods to cardiac surgery practice, execution of patents of inventions, and publications in science-and-practice journals. Delivery of cardiac surgery care. The number of employees: 50 staff members are working in the department including:
- 14 physicians
- 24 medical nurses
- 12 other staff members
Methods of surgical treatment:
- All range of surgeries for congenital heart diseases (radical one-stage, multi-stage surgeries, palliative interventions, hemodynamic correction, and repeated surgeries on heart and vessels) using state-of-the-art methods of life-support (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) and hybrid methods of surgical treatment;
- Surgical treatment of acquired heart diseases and tumors, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in children; implantation of epicardial systems for cardiac pacing, cardioversion-defibrillation, and resynchronizing therapy.
